Shah Rukh, Sonam named worst actors at Golden Kela Awards
While Shah Rukh won the award for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan", where he played a patient of Asperger's syndrome, Sonam got the award for her home production "Aisha".Ironically, Shah Rukh has also won the Filmfare award for the best actor for the same film."My Name Is Khan" also received the worst film award.Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the worst director award for "Guzaarish". "Guzaarish" also got Black Award for Emotional Blackmail.Director Ram Gopal Varma was awarded the Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho Gaya Award (Please Stop Its Enough), asking him to stop making films.The worst supporting actor male went to Arjun Rampal for "Housefull", and worst supporting actress female went to Kangana Ranaut for "Kites".Interestingly, out of five nominations in the category of supporting actress, three were for Kangana in "No Problem", "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai" and "Kites".Bawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke award (Have You Gone Nuts) was given to actor Ben Kingsley for his participation in the film "Teen Patti".However, there was a special category of 'Anti-Kela' awards for the films that were the saving graces of 2010. The awards were for the films that were meaningful and entertaining, while still being in the mainstream.Those awarded in this category were "Udaan", "Ishqiya", "Love, Sex and Dhoka", "Do Dooni Chaar", "Peepli Live" and "Tere Bin Laden"."I think we should learn to make fun of our own work and I think it's just fun although it's tough because we make a lot of bad films. It will be easy to choose good films but it will be difficult to choose worst work," said Vishal Bhardwaj, producer of "Ishqiya, who was present at the award ceremony hosted by Cyrus Broacha in Rockdome at the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon."Ishqiya" director Abhisek Chaubey added: "Nobody wants to admit that they have made the worst film and coming here would be admitting it, nobody really wants to believe that they did something worst. But really hope people who are nominated see the lighter side of it and come here."Small-budget film "Udaan" swept this year's prestigious Filmfare awards and here also it won the Anti-Kela for being 2010's "saving grace"."Being given an award by people who are looking for bad stuff in films means a lot," said director Vikramaditya Motwane in a video message.Meanwhile, Aditya Narayan and Pakhi Tyrewala were awarded the Golden Kela for worst debut male and female for "Shaapit" and "Jhootha Hi Sahi" respectively.Actor Uday Chopra was given the Chimpu Kapoor award (No talent award for relatives of celebrities)."Pee Loon" from "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai" was adjudged the most irritating song and Sanjay Leela Bhansali won another award for the most atrocious lyrics for song "Sau gram zindagi" from "Guzaarish".Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Rai starrer "Action Replayy", which was the big screen adaptation of a play, was given the award for the Most Original Story.Director Sanjay Sharma's gay love story "Dunno Y... Naa Jane Kyun" received the Lajja (Shame) award for worst treatment of a serious issue. "Ek Second... Jo Zindagi Badal De" won the When did This Come Out Award.Rohit Shetty's "Golmaal" series won the worst triology ever in the history of films and Salman Khan starrer "Dabangg" was given the Ajooba Award for Sheer Awesomeness.The worst animated film award went to "Baru the Wonder Kid".Pradeep Sarkar's "Lafange Parindey" was given the Jajantram Mamantram Award for Worst Named Film.Singer Sukhwinder Singh was given the Sonu Nigam Award for Career Suicide for his debut in "Kuch Kariye".Vivek Oberoi-starrer "Prince" was given the Golden Kela for the most ridiculous sequence in the film.Jackie Shroff won the worst casting ever award for his role as Shirdi Sai baba in the film "Malik Ek".Host Cyrus was at his wittiest best during the award function. Also present were actor Praduman Singh of "Tere Bin Laden" fame and "Do Dooni Chaar" director Habib Faisal.
Priyanka was never the choice for Two States: Vishal
Vishal and Shah Rukh have confirmed their collaboration on 'Two States', an adaptation of the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Chetan Bhagat."I never considered Priyanka for 'Two States'. The character is a Tamil Brahmin girl and she is a Punjabi. As far as success and failure are concerned I don't think it has anything to do with people's craft and Priyanka is a fabulous actress," said Vishal who had earlier worked with the 28-year-old actress in the 2009 hit 'Kaminey'.Though the filmmaker is known for taking risks when it comes to cinema, Vishal says that he was not expecting the harsh reviews that 'Saat Khoon Maaf' received from critics.The film which was co-scripted by Ruskin Bond, traces the life of Sussana who kills off her six husbands in her bid to find true love and then becomes a nun."It was dark humour. And according to me all cinema is a mix of fable and reality. I thought I had made a feminist film but not many understood it that way," said Bharadwaj."I do not care much for reviews, but I did not expect such harsh reactions, not from the public but in general. But when anything new comes, there are bound to be such reactions," said the director.But before he begins filming his next, Vishal said that he will take a break."I am going to take a break though I don't really know what am I going to do while at it," said Bharadwaj.
Seema Biswas to strip again after 'Bandit Queen'
The 46-year-old actress said that the naked scenes in her first film, including a gang rape, were tough but she went ahead in a bid to bring Phoolan Devi, the infamous dacoit, to life."'Bandit Queen' was like reliving the life of Phoolan Devi and she was brutally gang raped. However, many people saw sex and glamour even in that crime. I tried to be as convincing and real as possible for my viewers," the National Award winning actress told PTI.It was again in the pursuit of a realistic portrayal that the actress agreed to film the nude scenes in 'Tomorrow' where she plays the mother of a young man, caught between the forces of terrorism and the under world."It was the requirement of the story and I agreed," said Biswas who began her career on stage and was spotted by 'Bandit Queen' director Shekhar Kapur while on stage in 'Khoobsoorat Bahu', a play produced by NSD Repertory Company.The actress has since gone onto prove her versatility in a variety of roles and languages, including films in Marathi, Malayalam, Assamese and Tamil."I want to do different sort of roles as I don't want to be typecast," said Biswas adding that her upcoming films are as different from each other as chalk and cheese.While Rahul Dholakia's 'Society' is a comedy revolving around an apartment, 'Tomorrow' is a dark thriller, which traces the various terror attacks on Mumbai, from the 1993 blasts to 26/11 attacks in 2008.
Veena Malik received death threats, says her media manager
"Self-styled Taliban commander Ahmed Masood issued the death threat in a hand-written letter sent to Veena for appearing on the Indian show," Sohail Rashid, her media manager, told PTI."Veena is in India but she will not seek asylum there or in any other country on security grounds," Rashid said yesterday.He dismissed speculation that the media was informed about Taliban threat to garner "cheap publicity" for Veena.Rashid said clerics in Pakistan had been criticising Veena since she appeared in Indian television shows, especially "Big Boss"."This is not the first time she has received threats. Earlier she was given threats through SMS messages," he added.The authenticity of the letter could not immediately be verified.Veena, 33, earned the ire of clerics and hardliners for her appearance in "Big Boss", during which she featured in several intimate scenes with actor Ashmit Patel.Hardliners have accused her of shaming Pakistan.The actress in currently in India to host the cricket World Cup show "Big Toss".Veeena told the media that her security was a concern and the Pakistan government is responsible for protecting her and her family.Noting that key personalities like Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer had been assassinated by hardliners despite being provided security, Veena said her life and death was in God's hands.

The 51-year-old is said to be expecting a baby with his personal assistant, Alicia Grimaldi, reports telegraph.co.uk. "Bryan's personal assistant, Alicia Grimaldi, is expecting his baby in May," said rocker's friend and neighbour in Chelsea, London."Many of their friends still don't even know that they are a couple, but they are living together at his house," the friend added.Alicia, daughter of a leading surgeon, Peter Grimaldi, helped to establish the Bryan Adams Foundation and is one of the four trustees of the charity.
Gul Panag ties the knot, baraat vrooms on Enfield bikes
The Anand Karaj (wedding ceremony) was performed at a gurudwara here, followed by a reception at a hotel in Sector 5 in Panchkula, around 10 km from Chandigarh.Panag, well known for her adventurous lifestyle and tomboyish attitude, chose an unique way to reach the reception venue after the weding ceremony. Rishi arrived on a Royal Enfield motorcycle, with Gul sitting in the sidecar. The marriage procession (baraat) consisted of riders on over 20 Enfield motorcycles, some of which were being driven by women.Panag, 32, is also an expert in riding bikes, as was seen in her recent film "Turning 30".The marriage party was a personal affair with only family friends and selected guests being invited.Rishi works as a pilot in a private airline. He belongs to an Amritsar-based family and is now settled in New Delhi. Panag, daughter of a retired lieutenant general, won the Miss India title in 1999 and was also crowned Miss Beautiful Smile at the same pageant.
RGV creates a record with five-day movie
Verma, whose introduction of technology to film industry reduced dependency on light and help bring down production cost, had earlier completed projects in nine months and steadily cut down the time to three months and 45 days. His Telugu film “Dongala Mutha” (gang of thieves), shot in just five days and out of post-production in a week, is now ready for commercial display on March 18. “I have broken my own record of 30 days’ shooting,” says Verma. The shooting cost was a meagre Rs 6 lakh. With actors and technicians agreeing to take their cuts from the profit, RGV has effectively made a “zero-budget” film. “Dongala Mutha” has been filmed in natural lighting in Canon 5D SLR cameras with a team of seven technicians.
